Stay and Play: a class that will focus on motor skills, coordination and building friendship through play.

BRAND NEW SECURED CLASSROOMS (see photos below)

in the newly remodeled preschool wing of the YMCA building.

It is our goal that your child perceives school as a fun and exciting place to be. We are committed to providing your child with a positive learning experience. Our activities will help your child grow academically, physically and socially. We will focus on language arts, life skills, fine motor skills, large motor skills, and self-development.

Our nine month, semi-structured preschool serves children who are one to two years away from starting Kindergarten.

Children in Preschool Academy must be able to use the restroom independently as the staff are not allowed to enter the restroom with the children. Therefore, no diapers or pull ups are allowed and children need to wear clothes which allow them to undress and redress themselves without assistance.

The Portage Township YMCA Preschool Academy classes take several carefully planned field trips. In compliance with the YMCA of the USA's guidelines, each child must have a parent or responsible adult accompany them on field trips.

Parents will be asked to provide snacks on a rotating basis with children having birthdays being placed on the schedule first. Teachers will send home monthly notices of planned activities, field trips, parties, etc. As the children will be engaged in gym activities, outdoor play, and use of various cooking and craft materials, the need for clothing that can withstand the activities is strongly recommended.

A detailed information sheet regarding payments, dropping off, picking up, absences, health, snacks, school closings, etc. is available by request at the Welcome Canter at the main YMCA building.

*PLEASE NOTE:
Enrollment in preschool is a nine month commitment. Monthly fees are due on the 10th of the month prior to the month attending and payments can be made at the Welcome Center or mailed to the YMCA.
